Caught Hogs!
We recently purchased the JagerPro trapping system and are now officially trapping hogs. Our first job was at a property in Terrell, TX east of Dallas. Our approach is to LOCATE, CONCENTRATE and ELIMINATE.
First step was to locate – We scouted the entire property until we identified the main travel corridor of the pigs. We baited this high traffic area and set up the camera to get an idea of the size of the sounder coming in. Here’s what we were dealing with:
Next, we concentrated them to this area by baiting several more times and getting them comfortable. Once concentrated, we erected the trap. We then baited only the inside of the trap. It took them a few more days to enter the trap and feed. Here’s a shot of them in the trap feeding before we dropped the gate:
Last step was to eliminate! We dropped the gate and caught all 9 in this group at one time. Here’s the outcome – efficient and effective.
We’re stoked at how well this system works. We also know there are more sounders on this property. We are currently baiting another high-traffic area to see what else shows up. Stay tuned!
